The Allen Iverson sweepstakes is still up in the air, but there seems to be no frontrunner in the race to sign the future hall of fame guard. Despite there being no clear cut favorite to sign Iverson, AI has said on his Twitter account page that he is very close to signing and that he will probably sign within a week or so. The last three teams that seem to be in the mix are the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzles.
In my opinion, Iverson going to the Memphis Grizzles would be a copout. The only reason he would go to Memphis is strictly for the money and a starting position. There is no chance, I mean absolutely no chance the Grizzles win a championship with the addition of Iverson. They would be a better team, possibly a playoff team, but not a contender. If you like to

The Los Angeles Clippers on the other hand would be intriguing. The Clippers are stacked with talent right now as the young players like Eric Gordon and Al Thorton are starting to come together and with the leadership of Baron Davis and Allen Iverson along with a very promising forward in Blake Griffin the Clippers could be a very good Western Conference team, quite possibly this season’s Denver Nuggets.
The best option for Iverson in my opinion though is with the Miami Heat who could quickly turn into a title contender with the addition of Allen Iverson and Carlos Boozer if they can pull off that trade they have been trying to do with the Utah Jazz. Iverson would have to come off the bench apparently, but that is a small price to pay for a championship, just ask Lamar Odom for last season who’s contribution off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers was huge in their championship run.
Unlike some of the other free agent this offseason in the NBA, Iverson joining the Heat or the Clippers would be huge for sports betting as
